Just who is Mrs. Brown?

I've been teaching at Peters Township Middle School since 1998...before you were even born!  All my experiences in and out of the classroom have made me an excellent teacher, mentor, and guide; I know what I am doing, and I do it well!

Now

I am the most senior member of   Team Salk--this is my 22nd year on the team!  I have been teaching 7th grade language arts the whole time, in the same room!

I coach cross country in the fall, and I love hanging out with the team.  I am one of the founders of the team, and I am pretty excited to still be with the program!

I enjoy trying new things in my classes, although sometimes change makes me pretty nervous...

When I am not at school, I enjoy hanging out with my husband and my friends, visiting my family, reading, writing, cooking, running, and working out with kettlebells.

Soon

Lots of people talk about their "bucket list."  I haven't planned an actual list, but there are some things I'd like to do...some scarier to me than others:

  • make my own salsa

  • visit Ireland

  • go hiking (again) in Yosemite

  • learn Spanish and German

My school bucket list:

  • allow more student-led lessons

  • create "flipped" lessons

  • incorporate more technology

Hmmm...

I guess I actually have TWO lists!

Then

I was born way back in 1969 in a little town in Pennsylvania called Ridgway.

I am the middle kid in my family, with a brother and sister on each side.

I graduated from Elk County Christian High School, then went to Duquesne University.  I earned bachelor's and master's degrees there.

I came to Peters Township in 1998, and have been teaching 7th grade language arts ever since!

Me, with my younger brother Brian and my younger sister Marcia.  We're all a lot bigger now...

I'm the tiny baby in this one.  My older brother Bruce and older sister Mary are there, too.

Me, relatively recently.

If I remember to get my yearbook picture taken this year, maybe I'll add it!
